SoC IP Core System Management Module

DDI consulted to a startup IP technology provider to take on the development of firmware for their SOC Control Core Proof-of-Concept (POC) demonstrator system. This pivotal role required not only technical proficiency but also a methodical approach to ensure the demonstrator met its functional objectives while aligning with the startup’s innovative vision.

The project commenced with a comprehensive phase of gathering and reviewing the POC demo requirements alongside the SOC Control Core technical specifications. Immersing myself in the documentation, DDI identified the key features and constraints that would steer the design and implementation. DDI collaborated closely with the stakeholders to clarify objectives and address any ambiguities, ensuring the groundwork was meticulously laid.

To support the development process, DDI staged an integrated development environment (IDE) tailored for the task. Leveraging tools such as C programming, an FPGA platform, and emulators, DDI constructed a robust foundation. Additionally, DDI utilized a System C virtual machine environment and configured I/O along with internal SOC bus communications to simulate and test the interactions within the system. This setup served as the cornerstone for efficient and precise development workflows.

Designing, developing, and testing the POC demonstrator was a focused and iterative process. DDI's aim was to create a system that not only seamlessly integrated into the target platform but also effectively highlighted the SOC Control Core’s capabilities in presentations. Each phase was conducted with thorough validation and troubleshooting, culminating in a refined, fully operational demonstrator system. This achievement was not just a testament to technical skills but also to the collaborative and innovative spirit that underpinned the project.
