Graphics Control Module

DDI recently had the opportunity to consult for a Tier 1 automotive supplier, tasked with incorporating functional enhancements into an existing dual-micro instrument cluster module. DDI's primary focus was on the i.MX 8 Series ARM-based Graphics Interface Processor (GIP) portion, which was a critical component interfacing with the MCU-iMS8 Vehicle Interface Processor. Understanding this connection was crucial to successfully executing the enhancements.

To kick things off, DDI set up the development environment for the GIP. This involved configuring the necessary software tools, libraries, and dependencies to ensure a smooth development process. Once the environment was set up, DDI delved into analyzing the automotive supplier's existing tools, repositories, project artifacts, and current processes. This thorough analysis provided DDI with valuable insights into their development workflow.

With a solid understanding of the existing system, DDI reviewed the new functional requirements along with the existing issues that had been previously observed. This step was essential as it allowed DDI to pinpoint the specific enhancements needed and address any lingering problems that could impact the performance of the instrument cluster module. Following this, DDI made changes to various design and test specifications, along with the actual software. These modifications were aimed at ensuring the system met the highest quality standards and incorporated the desired functional enhancements seamlessly.
